I spent all day reading or wishing I was reading Diane Duane's The Empty Chair and I feel weirdly depressed and empty now that I have finished it. It was the end of a series, which might go a ways toward explaining the feeling, but still. Home again. Being in Florida was not terribly eventful, but I got a lot of reading done. I'm now done with Middlemarch, the entire Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, and Leviathan by the same author. I also worked my way through a lot of Gardner Dozois's Best of The Best Anthology ( Read more... )

I watched The Journey Home and Wrath of Khan today (in that order) and it was kind of surprising how different they were in tone. The Journey Home (the crew of the Enterprise go back in time and save the whales!) was hilarious and full of the wacky hijinks I expect from the Original Series. I think I will forgive the third season of TOS for being total crap most of the time because it has The Enterprise Incident, which is totally worthwhile. I don't really like the concept behind the episode- Our Heros do a scumbag sort of thing- but the acting and the script are really good, and I love the Romulan Commander, so I can enjoy it as a ( Read more... )
